1. Lubricate bearings and gears: add the correct grease monthly to prevent dry running and overheating.

2. Check blades / shelling rotor: look for wear and chipped edges and replace promptly to keep the shelling rate high.

3. Check drive-belt tension: a loose belt slips, a tight one stresses bearings — adjust when it slips.
